Introducing selection points and recommended plantings
Wall greening construction methodVarious plantings according to theIntroducing key design points
KYODO KY-TEC's wall greening systems come in three types: panel type, wire type, and unit type (protective product), and we offer a diverse lineup to suit the installation environment and purpose. When implementing wall greening, it is important to understand the situation of the installation location and select the appropriate method and plants, so we will introduce points to consider when selecting products and suitable plantings.

Considerations when designing a green wall
When considering wall greening, be sure to consider the following points when selecting a product.
-
Exterior wall base to be installed
-
Height of installation location
-
Installation environment (sunlight conditions, salt damage)
-
Maintenance flow
-
Drainage Plan
-
Automatic irrigation planning
2. Key points to consider when selecting plants for wall greening
In a wall greening system, it is possible to plant a variety of wall plants, but for the plants to grow normally, it is important to select plants that are suited to the vegetation environment and construction method in which they are planted. Here we will introduce some points to pay particular attention to when selecting plants for the special environment unique to wall greening.
- Avoid plants that grow too quickly or have unruly branches (this will affect the surrounding plantings and frequency of maintenance).
- Select healthy seedlings of plant species that are resistant to pests and diseases.
- Mixing plants with different tolerances should be avoided as much as possible, and designs should be done in blocks or units.
- Individual plants have different tolerances to sun and shade depending on the light conditions.
- Understand the differences between climbing plants and creeping plants and choose the appropriate method.
We also have a column that will be helpful when designing green walls, so please take a look.
3. Plants suitable for wall greening ① - Climbing plants
When installing regular or legal green walls, we recommend selecting materials that encourage the climbing of evergreen creepers (Hedera species) to save on labor and management. These can be used on a variety of walls and for various purposes, including the walls of ordinary buildings, commercial facilities, and permanent fences, and allow for low-cost greening.
