Is H=100mm necessary?
If the basic function of a Raised Access Floor is to store cables, then it can be said that the higher the height, the greater the wiring capacity, which means it is superior.
However, there are risks in determining height based on this perspective alone.

When raised access floors first began to be adopted in offices in the early Heisei period, it was common for offices to be overflowing with large amounts of wiring due to factors such as power-hungry PCs, LAN star wiring, and a large number of landline telephones, and so raised access floors were required to have a certain height (H = 100 mm or more).
Is the current office situation similar?
The adoption rate of wireless LAN in offices today is 78.9% (※1), and LAN wiring is decreasing.
In addition, the percentage of companies that have introduced free address systems has increased from 19% (2019) to 40% (49% if those planning to introduce them are included) (*2), suggesting the spread of energy-efficient laptops and a decrease in landline phones, and that the amount of wiring under the floor is now less than half of what it was in the early Heisei period.
Considering these circumstances, it is now common for offices to be able to reduce the height to 100mm, half of the previously standard height of 50mm.

Low-height Raised Access Floor = Advantages of Low-Floor Raised Access Floor
The low-floor Raised Access Floor has four major advantages.
- The price of the Raised Access Floor itself tends to be low (cost reduction)
- It is possible to reduce dead space under the floor and make effective use of the space (ensuring high ceilings, expanding the equipment space above the ceiling, etc.)
- For new construction projects, adopting a low-floor raised access floor makes the entire building more compact, which can help comply with height restrictions and reduce construction costs.
- In the case of retrofitting (renovation work), the ramp is shortened and dead space is reduced.
Are there any disadvantages to a low-floor vehicle?
Although there are only good points, there are three points that you should pay particular attention to when adopting a low-floor raised access floor.
- Before adopting the product, check whether the wiring can actually be accommodated (we can provide support).
- Since low-floor Raised Access Floors are often laid on the floor (either directly on the floor or laid after the sheet is installed), care must be taken to check the condition of the existing floor.
- Consideration is also given to the strength, fire resistance, and ease of maintenance of the floor itself.
